 Our Trowels vs Others

When possible, for best display.

  1. Point flagpole with (not into) direction of prevailing winds or 90 degrees from prevailing winds.
REASON: Keep flag from hugging flagpole, flag is more visible, and flag is not pushed up against house or gutters.

  2. Use an extender to keep flag from getting caught on gutters or business building.
REASON: Your flag will stay visible and will not tear, prolonging the life of the flag.

  3. Mount the bracket against a flat surface.
REASON: Mounting screws or bolts will have equal holding power and will hold the flagpole in true position.

  4. When mounting bracket on an uneven surface such as limestone, brick, etc., use quick set cement as filler behind the bracket.
REASON: To stabilize bracket and hold in true position.

  5. When mounting bracket on brick or limestone, etc., use lead anchors or equivalent, with large screw 1/4" x 2" long
REASON: To prevent bracket from coming loose.

  6. When choosing mounting bracket, choose one with base where holes are spaced farther apart and holes are of sufficient diameter to align bracket with screws.
REASON: It is difficult to drill holes without some misalignment.

  7. Washing of flagpole, aluminum or fiberglass:
Small: Wash with soap and water, rinse and apply light coating of wax, just like your car or boat.
Large: Wash with soap and water by tying washing cloth around flagpole, attaching cloth to halyard and moving cloth up and down flagpole. Rinse, and then apply light coat of wax with same method of application.
REASON:Protects finish of flagpole and enhances and sustains beauty of your flagpole.

  8. When using a halyard on large (architectural) flagpole, change the halyard every year.
REASON:It is less expensive than hiring someone with a high lift when the halyard breaks.

  9. For Large architectural flagpole- Locate stationary truck pulley on opposite side of prevailing wings.
REASON: Helps to prevent flag hugging flagpole, giving more visibility and beautiful display.

  10. Don't Forget: Attach truck pulley assembly and halyard, and flash collar around flagpole before uprighting flagpole and installing.

  11. Purchase your flagpoles and accessories from Brewer Design.
REASON: The flags will not wrap, tangle or furl; the brackets are stronger, the flagpoles are stronger, and Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
